Chiang Rai Golf & Sightseeing Grand Tour

With our Chiang Rai Golf Grand Tour, play the best golf courses in both Chiang Mai & Chiang Rai. See the sights of Chiang Rai including White Temple, Golden Triangle, and experience soft trekking in remote villages.

This is a sample itinerary for 8 days / 7 nights. It does not include the sightseeing highlights of Chiang Mai, so it is suitable for either:

1. Golfers who have previously been to Chiang Mai and want to explore a different part of Thailand
2. …or golfers who simply want to play the best courses in both provinces.

Day 1 – Welcome to Chiang Mai

• Pickup from Chiang Mai International Airport – your guide will be waiting with a sign as you exit customs.
• Transfer to Olsen Tours HQ to wait for others to arrive.
• Stop at currency exchange office, and continue to lunch at Huen Jai Yong.
• Transfer to Oon Valley Farm Stay (1 night stay)
• Use of bicycles and entry to Dutch Farm is free with accommodation.
• Dinner on site at Herb Cuisine

Day 2 – Highlands Golf & Travel to Doi Chang

• Light breakfast at Herb Cuisine (or at golf course for golfers)
• Chiang Mai Highlands Golf
• All meet at golf course before midday for lunch.

• Drive north from the golf resort through scenic Doi Saket as a shortcut to the main 118 highway to Chiang Rai. Then continue north-east towards Chiang Rai on the highway.
• Road-side rest break at Mae Khachan Hot Springs
• Check in to Baan Suan Doi Chang (1 night stay). This is boutique accommodation near the Akha village of Baan Doi Chang.

Day 3 – Coffee Farm and Chiang Rai City

• Coffee Tour* at Leehu Coffee Farm
  • Coffee Operations Tour (tickets included)
  • Plantation Walk (included)
  • 1 hot drink (included)
• Leesoaw Macadamia
• White Temple
• Check-in to Le Patta Hotel (2 night stay)
• Dinner at Lu Lam.
• Hotel is within walking distance of both Chiang Rai clock tower and night bazaar for those not needing sleep!

Day 4 – Santiburi Golf & Golden Triangle

• Hotel Buffet Breakfast
• Golden Triangle
• Opium Hall Museum
• Lunch at golf resort
• Golf at Santiburi Country Club. Non-golfers free time at hotel
• Go out for dinner at Moommai Restaurant

Day 5 – Chiang Rai City & Trekking to Bamboo Nest

• Hotel Buffet Breakfast
• Pack an overnight bag for Bamboo Nest and day pack for trekking if you like (you will want to carry some water at a minimum)
• Blue Temple (free)
• Wat Huay Pla Kang (tickets included)
• Lunch (included)
• Scenic 30 minute drive along the Kok river passing lychee, rubber and pineapple plantations
• Trek from Pasoet Hot Springs to the Lahu village of Ban Cha Cho.
  • You will pass through natural forest, a pineapple plantation, a rubber plantation and the village itself
• Arrive at Bamboo Nest (1 night stay) mid to late afternoon.
• Take a shower and familiarize yourself with bungalow layout, learn how to use your mosquito net etc. before dark
• Dinner will be served on site.

Day 6 – Trekking to Akha Village, Singha Park and Return to Chiang Mai

• Breakfast at Bamboo Nest
• Take a break after breakfast, and check out.
• Continue trekking south with local guide through farmland and forest to the Akha village of Ban I-Ko Nam Tok & Huay Kaew Waterfall.
• Total trekking time is around 2 hours, the waterfall is optional if you want a shorter walk.
• Your transport and luggage will be waiting at the bottom of the waterfall.
• From here it is a 30 minute drive back to Chiang Rai past some interesting county-side including tea fields just south of the waterfall.
• Lunch (included)
• Singha Park (free entry, tram ride included)
• Return to Chiang Mai for check-in at U-Nimman Chiang Mai (2 night stay)
• DInner is across the road from the hotel at Hong Tauw Inn.

Day 7 – Alpine Golf

• Hotel Buffet Breakfast
• Alpine Golf Resort
• Non-golfers have free time to explore Nimman district. The hotel is close to many specialty shops and Maya shopping mall.

• Meet for lunch at Ginger Farm Kitchen near hotel
• Free time afternoon
• Dinner at Samsen Villa – riverside restaurant. Golf awards ceremony.

Day 8 – Farewell from Chiang Mai

• Hotel Buffet Breakfast
• Free time morning – Sunday organic market is a weekly event at One Nimman just outside hotel.
• Check out from hotel late morning
• Lunch at Ohkaju Organic Farm.
• Drive to Cental Plaza shopping mall near airport
• Transfer to airport

Tour Package Inclusions

Transport is provided by a Toyota commercial passenger Van (10 seats + driver). The tour will be led by a licensed English-speaking tour guide. We provide bottled drinking water on the bus (2 bottles/pax/day).
